Running good!

Posted in Reports  by barracuda No Comments

A couple weeks past, and I could still drive the car, she was just rough. Austin checked her out and gave a report on what he found:

1. Alternator is overcharging

2. U Joint seemed ok, but excessive vibration, probably in rear end

3. Linkage was binding up, fixed it

4. Steering box was coming unbolted

5. Have someone check on the front alignment

6. Adjusted brakes

Since he has fixed her, she has been running great! He gave me the card of a guy not too far, a garage that deals with performance cars and oldies. I am going to take her in for a check up very soon.

Bad garage

Posted in Reports  by barracuda No Comments

The garage I took my car to, well, I am unsure if they did something to the car or what, but when I drove it around the block after picking it up, to test the brakes, the car was running super rough and problems when you push the gas. It would hesitate, then kick into gear. They said they didn’t touch the engine, and one guy said there was a detent clip  that was almost coming off. Well, I wasn’t about to take it back or have them look at my car again.

I called Austin, who works at a VW garage, and restores Citroens. He was buried in cars, so he couldn’t look at it right away. When we drove it around to see what was wrong, the extra 2 barrels were not opening up, and it wasn’t going into 3rd until I put it in N. He said the linkage was messed up, and then when he got time to look at it he would check it out.
